Job Opening

The Certified Nursing Assistant is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort.  The hospice aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Performs personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests.   
  • Meets safety needs of patient and uses equipment safely and properly. 
  • Giving personal care including baths, oral hygiene, shampooing and changing bed linen as often. 
  • Assists in dressing and undressing patients. 
  • Assists in feeding the patient as assigned. 
  • Offers and assists with bedpans and urinals and light laundry needs. 
  • Takes and records oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency.
  • Keeps patient's living area clean and orderly. 
  • Assists in ambulation, exercise, and range of motion as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist while ensuring proper heaving lifting techniques are performed. 



  • Meets the training requirements of the State. 
  • Must meet the following training requirements; have a current nursing assistant certification and have successfully completed a Home Health Aide competency evaluation.
  • Must exhibit maturity, a sympathetic attitude toward the patient, ability to provide care to the terminal patient, and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. 
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and carry out directions promptly and accurately. 
  • Primarily frequent in nature with exerting up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten pounds of force constantly to move objects: reaching, lifting, carrying, handling, walking, sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting.  Position may require pushing and pulling up to 300 lbs. Frequent to continuous speaking, hearing, near visual acuity, far visual acuity, depth perception, typing and driving.
